An Idea to Share -
The PBS video A Citizen's Guide to Preserving Democracy, is based on the book "The Bill of Obligations: the Ten Habits of Good Citizens" by Richard Haass. After watching the video, the Peace and Justice Ministry was inspired. They broke out into small groups to discuss the 10 obligations of citizens. All the topics seemed to need greater attention now. The political divide is overwhelming; some wish to proactively engage at the local level, others want to check out completely. Our discussions were lively, and people seemed to find new motivation.
You can be inspired too. Join us our Summer Sermon Series comments on each of the "10 Obligations" with thoughtful biblical insights and comments from local experts and politicians. Lyndhurst Community of Faith Church is excited to share boundless love in a complex world.
The PBS video (52 minutes long) is available online for free and Richard Haass' book "The Bill of Obligations: the Ten Habits of Good Citizens" can be found at your local library.
